FIRST STEPS FOR THE DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAM WITH THE PIROGOV UNIVERSITY OF MOSCOW

In 2014, the University of Milan and the NI Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University signed a double degree agreement, involving their International Medical Schools. As a first result of this agreement, five outstanding students from the first year at the Pirogov University have just been selected for the double degree program. In Russia, they will receive a preclinical education mirroring the curriculum of our MedSchool and they will reach Milan in the next years for part of the clinical training.
At present, this represents a unique educational initiative in Europe and, as a great sign of recognition and appreciation for the agreement, the Russian Government awarded our Rector, prof. Gianluca Vago, with a Pirogov Golden Medal Award. The medal was issued on December 9 2014 to the First prorector of the Milan University, prof. Giuseppe De Luca, as prof. Vago could not travel because of health issues.
On February 9-10, a Russian delegation will visit the medical school of Milan to proceed with the implementation of the double degree program for the future years. The workshop will be hosted by prof. Monica Diluca, prorector for Internationalization at the University of Milan: “We are proud to host the Russian Delegation and to proceed with the implementation of the Double Degree programme, which perfectly fits the strategic plan for Internationalization of our University for the coming years.”
